Chlorine is a pesticide

Simply stated chlorine is a pesticide, as defined by the U.S. EPA,

whose sole purpose is to kill living organisms.

When we consume water containing chlorine, it kills some part of us,

destroying cells and tissue inside our body.

Dr. Robert Carlson, a highly respected University of Minnesota researcher

who's work is sponsored by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency,

sums it up by claiming , "the chlorine problem is similar to

that of air pollution", and adds that

"chlorine is the greatest crippler and killer of modern times!"

Breast cancer, which now affects one in every eight women

in North America, has recently been linked to the accumulation of

chlorine compounds in the breast tissue.

A study carried out in Hartford Connecticut, the first of

its kind in North America, found that,

"women with breast cancer have 50% to 60% higher levels

of organ chlorines (chlorination byproducts) in their breast tissue

than women without breast cancer."

One of the most shocking components to all of these studies

on chlorine is that up to 2/3s of our harmful exposure

to chlorine is due to inhalation of steam and skin absorption while showering.

A warm shower opens up the pores of the skin and allows

for accelerated absorption of chlorine and other chemicals in water.

The steam we inhale while showering can contain up to

50 times the level of chemicals than tap water due to the fact

that chlorine and most other contaminants vaporize much faster

and at a lower temperature than water. Inhalation is a much more

harmful means of exposure since the chlorine gas (chloroform)

we inhale goes directly into our blood stream.

When we drink contaminated water the toxins are partially

filtered out by our kidneys and digestive system.

Chlorine vapors are known to be a strong irritant to the sensitive

tissue and bronchial passages inside our lungs,

it was used as a chemical weapon in World War II.

The inhalation of chlorine is a suspected cause of asthma and bronchitis,

especially in children… which has increased 300% in the last two decades.

"Showering is suspected as the primary cause of elevated levels

of chloroform in nearly every home because of chlorine in the water."

Dr Lance Wallace, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Chlorine in shower water also has a very negative cosmetic effect,

robbing our skin and hair of moisture and elasticity,

resulting in a less vibrant and youthful appearance.

Anyone who has ever swam in a chlorinated pool can relate

to the harsh effects that chlorine has on the skin and hair.

What's surprising is that we commonly find higher levels

of chlorine in our tap water than is recommended safe for swimming pools.

Combat this problem.

Home Hardware have a product that filters out the Chlorine.

This will certainly make your shower much safer.

Eganic also has a shower unit which does much better job.

I want to  add a little extra it needs to be said.

Excess acidicty is a condition that weakens all body systems, Excess acidity
forces the body to borrow minerals - including calcium, sodium, potassium and
magnesium - from vital organs and bones to buffer ( neutralize ) the acid and
safely remove it from the body. As a result, the body can suffer severe and
prolonged "corrosion" due to high acidity - a condition that many go
undetected for years.

It effects virtually every person in our society because of the way we eat,
and the environment we live in. The result is an internal environment where
disease can easily manifest, as apposed to a pH balanced environment, which
allows normal body function necessary for the body to resist disease.

It is true that if we have a healthy body we will maintain sufficient
alkaline reserves to meet emergency demands. However when excess acids must
be continually neutralized, our alkaline reserves are depleted, leaving the
body in a weakened, disease prone condition.

Unfortunately, there are still many practitioners who believe the body can
somehow miraculously and naturally balance it's pH - as if we are still
living in the woods, eating raw foods and herbs. The truth is far beyond this
ideal.

In fact the truth - according to Dr. Linda Frassetto acid/alkaline researcher
from the University of California, is that we have an evolutionary corner. We
do not handle acid waste the way we used to.

Her research showed the sheer volume of acid waste our body has to handle has
forced it to take drastic 'war' style action to preserve it's 'strategic
reserves' - and to protect the kidney and liver, our major essential detox
organs. In her study of almost 1,000 aging subjects, she found that we are
now stockpiling acid in fatty deposits rather than eliminating it via kidney
and liver.

In it's infinite wisdom, the body has chosen to save the kidney and liver
from degradation by excess acid. Of course there is a cost. It's called
obesity, lowered immunity, lack of energy and the whole host of acid related
diseases we are subject to including cancer, diabetes, osteo-arthritis and
more - much more.

The concept of acid/alkaline balance as the cause of disease isn't a new one.
One of the first people who talked about the need to alkalize the body was
the great 'Sleeping Profit' Edger Cayce. He always referred to body
detoxification with herbs, colonics, fasting, massage, steam baths and diet
modification with the aim of alkalizing the body.

Way back in 1933, Dr. William Howard Hay published a ground breaking book, "
A New Health Era," in which he maintained that all disease is caused by 'auto-
toxication' ( or self poisoning') due to acid accumulation in the body.

According to Dr. Theodore Baroody, Author of "Alkalize or Die" "The countless
names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all
come from the same basic root cause… too much acid tissue in the body.
